It’s a shame that it’s taken this long for someone in City Counsel to realize what an asinine idea it is to force citizens to use one kind of web browser to access city services. I wonder how many more people will opt into paying their property taxes and water bills online. Maybe next they’ll consider allowing citizens to pay their bill through the Philly 311 app.
Personally, I’d like to see more extensibility for mobile payments for city utilities – electric, gas and water. Maybe that’s also what the city needs: a mandate that requires utility companies operating within the city limits to accept mobile payments within 3-5 years. In this day and age, it’s no longer a luxury to be able to make mobile payments. It’s a necessity.
